Maxtor Basics Personal Storage 3200 - hard drives. Those shipped from a particular distribution center have been found to be infected with a very basic virus hidden within the hard drive itself, or perhaps its within the installation utilities? Regardless this virus is targeted to record the username and password information and to send that data off to a server located someplace in China. The information reports that this was a small run of drives originating from a company and distribution center within China, which has already had the distribution haulted, however they report that there were some shipments that did make it to the general public market that are likely to be infected, and they implore people to be safe and update your virus security.

O, Come all ye Faithful.. of Norrath

As part of an upcoming series, we will be interviewing EverQuestII Role Players.. the subject of these interviews?? Your Faith in your chosen Diety.. WHY did you chose your diety? What do you get out of it? Was it Role Play or did you decide based on the rewards?.. or BOTH??
Please, if you wish to participate in this discussion live on the air.. leave a message at the Kithicor.Org forums and we’ll arrange for your interview!
Don’t worry, I plan on interviewing a variety of people, and sometimes there will be more than ONE chosen for each diety.. so if you listen and think.. well, that’s not why “I” chose to follow that diety.. don’t sweat it, you could still have a chance to come on the show and voice your opinion!
Ravecast - Technology and Game Design
There are 2 major schools of thought that stand out in game development. There is the school of thought that pushes technology along and forces people to upgrade their computers, and there is the school of thought which says that it makes better business sense to build a game which people can play without having to upgrade their computer hardware. Both sides have incredibly valid points. What is your opinion?

The Ravecast airs every Friday evening from 6:30 - 9:30pm Pacific Time

The Format Wars - a blog
So I started reading a new blog lately that caught my eye after he linked to us. I’ll admit it - I didn’t know his blog existed until he linked to one of my blogs, but that’s besides the point.
Now that I know about his blog, I’ve started reading through some of his past stuff, and I’m sucked in. His points are strong and even if I don’t agree with everything he says, he still has a point on his opinion which I can respect.
Well he’s decided to split up his blogs between 2 sites now. Crazy people, don’t you have better things to do with your time but to blog on various websites?! (Granny voice-out) but apparently I have too much time on my hands because now I’m reading both sites.
So he just posted a blog regarding the format wars between blu-ray, hd-dvds, etc. Even if you don’t know much about the background of these, the blog is fun and interesting to read and you seriously should check it out.
…Anyway, however it happened, HD-DVD and Blu-Ray are both destined to fall by the wayside in 2-3 years. Neither has cornered the market, and all the talk about “the format war” is so old and common that people have grown tired of it. Most of your potential customers are ignoring you now. And the ones who are still paying attention aren’t going to buy while they can only buy half the movies they want on either format…
RealNetwork’s Mobile Games - an Interview
Inbabble is reporting an interview with Matt Turetzky regarding the various games being released on their incredible success with mobile gaming. First notable mention brings local OGR amusement due to it’s name, Luxor 2. It is a shame that our very own Luxx doesn’t even use a cellphone, so he’s not even able to get in on the fun of playing a game which is so close to his own name.
So what’s new at RealNetworks as far as games go?
Turetzky: We are very excited about our three new mobile games launches this Q4. Coming first, in October, was Luxor 2, our second game based on one of the best selling PC games of all time. The Luxor brand has been downloaded over 60 million times on the PC and we are very pleased to be able to bring it to mobile gamers. We launched the first Luxor mobile game last year and it was our best selling game of 2006. The new version features all new levels and power-ups and much sharper design and effects, thanks to the capabilities of the newer handsets.
The interview is quite informative and interesting regardless of their website fubars. You should seriously check it out and see what they have to say regarding the mobile gaming industry. Click Here to read the full Q&A.

Cryptic Studios sells City of Heroes/City of Villians
Though the publisher for City of Heroes/City of Villians has always been NC Soft, the actual developer stayed in the hands of Cryptic Studios… until recently.
A FAQ was posted on Cryptic Studio’s website outlining the specifics of the how and why of the finality of the sell and its complete creative control moving to the NC Soft developers.
How did Cryptic Studios arrive at the decision to sell City of Heroes and City of Villains to NCsoft?
When we considered the future of CoH/CoV and the future of Cryptic Studios, we had a difficult decision to make. We’ve invested a lot of time, effort, talent and passion into the games, and we care about them. But we’ve got a lot of other ideas we’re excited about too.Ultimately, we decided that selling to NCsoft was the best and right thing to do for the CoH community. CoH/CoV will be in good hands at NCsoft, and the transition will be as seamless as possible. With this move, we now have complete creative freedom and the resources we need to develop new games.
