A new perspective on Norrath

Gnomercee IrontoesWelcome to “New Attitude” – a column that looks at the ever growing world of Norrath (EQ2) with new eyes. Initially that perspective will be mine; ultimately it will be yours as well. Providing, of course, that you are the sort of person that likes to sit back, sip a cup of coffee and discuss what new discoveries Norrath (and of course John Smedley and his devs) have brought you. Input is always welcome, good conversation appreciated, and inane banter easily ignored.

Great…who the heck are you?

My name is Julie Whitefeather. Feel free to Google it - it’s not “nom de plume”. Currently I am a staff writer for World of Warcraft Chronicles (wowchron) as well as a contributing author at Virgin Worlds. I am a gamer from way back, as they say; since the day when Ultima Online (UO) was the big kid on the block and Everquest was just something Brad McQuaid thought would be a good idea. Currently I play EQ2, of course, WoW and Lotro (Lord of the Rings Online). I have played EQ1, UO, Eve Online, Vanguard, Guildwars and Voyage Century.

OK, so why a “new attitude”?

Simple - a great number of gamers are waiting expectantly for the game they believe will save the world of gaming, Warhammer Online. An even greater number of players have joined the number of people who subscribe to WoW. That is a number which now exceeds the population of Switzerland, with enough people left over to populate a good size city. But some of us, myself included, have broadened our perspectives and started playing games other than the ones we have been playing for more hours than we usually care to admit. When new players join the ever burgeoning ranks of players in games like WoW they often encounter players (like me) who have hit the level cap with their characters multiple times. New players to an established game tend to hear phrases like “been there, done that, bored with it” - that is when they hear discussion about content that is new to them at all.

So whether you are a returning player from EQ1, or a new player from WoW (both of which I fit) now is your chance to sit back and discover Norrath together. You can leave comments for me on the forums or send me a tell in game. My main is Gnomercee Irontoes on the Najena server.Until next time…

See you online,

Julie Whitefeather
