3 very different genres - all with Beta status updates. Yee!!

Its not often when you get to hear about such vastly different genres at the same time announcing updates to their status of beta. The contrast would make any designer giggle inside if these were in the realm of “color”. This likely doesn’t mean much to you, but in this beta update, we’re talking about space, conan, and fuzzy puppies. See? I got you hooked, didn’t I?

First, we’ll start with the one that puts a smile on every gamer’s face. You’re looking for pink, for bubble gum, for furry animals and rounded shapes. Something to push away the ugly of life and just have some over exaggerated happy feeling time spreading the joy through your veins. Hello Kitty Online has started beta testing. Mock all you want, this game is coming and its likely going to be one of those guilty pleasures that you won’t admit to other gamers that you play *cough*-toontown-*cough*. If nothing else, hop over to the Hello Kitty Online website to be amazed at the simple yet awesome UI of their site.

Second on the list is Age of Conan… which is still not in open beta. They decided to give one last (or so they’ve said)push of updates to the closed beta testers. It will eventually hit open beta - but maybe it’ll go the way of a few of the games, where “open beta” is more like a prelaunch party which occurs a week before the game heads to the stores in its pretty shrink-wrapped containers?

Lastly, and in my mind, the one that should be paid the most attention to (because I’m a nerd), is Stargate Worlds - registrations for Beta testing have started. This does not mean you are receiving a golden ticket into beta, it means that you’re buying a chocolate bar which has a chance of having a golden ticket inside to join Charlie and his friends into a very different sort of adventure than anything that you may have experienced. If you’re like me, then you’ll be drooling by now, so head over to the Stargate Worlds website and register for a chance to join their beta program.
